Welcome to the first week of Year of Breath. Together, we’ll integrate intentional rhythms of prayer and reflection into our days. I’m very much looking forward to connecting with you, too.
This week, we’re in what the church calendar calls Epiphany. (It comes from the Greek word epiphaneia, which means the appearance or manifestation of something special.) In our case, it refers to when Jesus crossed that incredible chasm and broke into our world. This space in time celebrates how a brilliant star led the faithful magi to visit Jesus after his birth.
When we say we’re observing Epiphany, it’s like we’re gazing at a divine spotlight illuminating the beginning of something truly remarkable.
A glimmer of something that changes everything.
That feels like the right place to start the year, right?
Every Sunday, we’ll have a breath prayer and reflection question for you to carry throughout the week.
We’ll also have a few extras (I can’t help myself.) that augment our weekly meditation theme.
This week’s extras: A short poem by Madeleine L’Engle, six illuminating songs to guide you through the week, and some scripture to accompany Epiphany. I’ll pop in mid-week to cultivate some conversation. Come as you’re able, connect when you can, and release any pressure that our time together is a should.
Now, take a breath.
Let’s go.
