It’s not just you — parenting is tough right now. In fact, the U.S. Attorney General just issued an “Advisory on the Mental Health and Well-Being of Parents.”

You’re not alone.

And while we know parenting is deep and holy work, we also know that it can be incredibly difficult to navigate raising kids in these times.

Many parents are feeling the strain of constant demands and unrelenting stress in a world that never seems to slow down.

This is why I wrote Every Season Sacred: The pressures parents face are real.

We need resources that point us toward hope in hard times, help us care for ourselves, our families, and each other, grow in our compassion for our neighbors, and lead us to the merciful arms of Christ, who does not ignore our suffering but moves toward it.

This Week

This week in Year of Breath, we explore the theme of living under pressure and how we can find hope by turning to God’s unending grace amid our overwhelm. We’ll explore how to release the burdens we were never meant to carry alone through extended reflections, targeted breath prayers, and specific Scripture references.

May our time together help you stay awake to sacred moments amid the pressures of parenting and remember that God’s peace is near, even in the most stressful times.

Giveaway

This back-to-school season can often feel overwhelming. So how about a little glimmer of joy?

To thank you, paid Year of Breath readers, for supporting my words and this work, I’m giving away THREE sets of these sweet love notes you can pass on to your kids.

  • Each tear-out includes a prayer, Scripture, and a loving, just-so-you-know affirmation statement to remind the children in your life that God and others love them!

  • The back is left blank for you to write a personal note, making it perfect for parents or grandparents to easily tear out a hope-filled message, add their own note, and then stick it on a lunchbox, a mirror, or their door.

Just leave a comment about one hope you have for September to enter!

A Prayer for Parents Under Pressure

God of every moment,
You see the burdens we carry
And the worries that weigh us down.
In our striving and in our stress,
Meet us with Your calming presence.
Help us to breathe inside Your grace,
To trust in Your sustaining power.
When the pressures of life press in,
Remind us that You are our refuge,
A safe place where we can release our fears.
May we find rest in Your unfailing love,
Knowing that You hold all things,
Even when we feel like we’re falling apart.
Amen.
